8
9<!-- TEASER_END -->
10
11*Chaos Communication Camp 2003*
12
13*The International Hacker Open Air Gathering*
14
15*7/8/9/10th August 2003 near Berlin, Germany (Old Europe)*
16
17Papers are being solicited for the second Camp of the Chaos Computer
18Club e.V., Germany, to be held near Berlin, Germany, on 7/8/9/10th
19August 2003. The Camp is intended to promote the interchange of
20technical, social and political ideas and concepts to find ways to make
21this world a little bit more friendly to intelligent beings.
22
23The conference language is english, therefore all lectures and workshops
24have to be held in english. For especially interesting topics, a
25on-stage translation might be available, but this service will be
26strictly limited to a few instances of special importance.
27
28In general, all papers, lectures and workshops from the field of
29technology, security, art, philosophy, politics and cooking are welcome.
30We try, however to create a certain focus on a number of topics that we
31regard as important for the near future. These are:
32
33### Technology
34
35- mobile phone security (e.g. OTA attacks)
36- distributed, cryptographical secure storage and peer-to-peer
37 networking technology
38- semantic web (xml, wsdl, rss and related technologies)
39- complex network attack methods, detection and defense
40- advanced wireless networking and security
41- autonomous systems and robotics
42- attacks on cryptosystems
43- even more ways of breaking biometry
44- Open Source Security (code audits and "who reads the open source
45 anyway?")
46- instant messaging
47- surveillance, wiretapping and crowd controll: state of the art
48- reengineering hands-on workshops and publication standards
49- using print-on-demand-technology to improve the availability of
50 interesting content
51- satellite imagery analysis for non-state actors
52- monitoring sat-feeds and other interesting sat-related stuff
53- groups that want to held special interest gatherings (like
54 coordination of a open-source software project) on the Camp are very
55 welcome
56
57### Philosophy & Politics
58
59- over-analysis of the world and the resulting problems,
60 interdepencies and next-order complexities
61- power-politics and the economic roots of today's bizarre world
62- military vs. civilian R&D and the resulting moral problems
63- truth, trust, perception-management and propaganda
64- legal situation in relevant areas of interest
65- lobbying and influence politics
66
67### Art
68
69- every creative use of modern technology in art is welcome
70- poetry, performances, music, DJs, optics, paintings, sculptures
71- movies, flash-films, animations and demo-competitions
72- there will be a camp radio station (both local broadcast and
73 internet streaming) that is looking for content, especialy radio
74 drama and documentary
75
76Lectures are expected to be highly relevant in practice or better be
77darn funny. Sales droids have been known to disappear without traces on
78past events. Interactive Workshops welcome. Hands-On anything even more
79welcome.
80
81Abstracts and papers should be submitted in English to
82[](content@camp.ccc.de) as soon as possible, latest on 1. July 2003
8317:00 GMT. There will be a very limited number of slots reserved for
84presentations covering stuff that happens between the submission
85deadline and the start of the Camp, but we will be extremly discriminate
86regarding the allocation of these slots. The submission should inlcude
87references and URLs, a short biography of the speaker, contact
88information (e-mail) and any time constrains or preferences the speaker
89might have.
90
91Notice of acceptance will be sent out as soon as possible. Final
92presentations should be in English and be up to 60 or up to 120 minutes
93long, including a question-and-answer period. Followup discussions and
94hands-on workshops are strongly encouraged, there will be space for such
95activities available outside the main lecture tents (if you dont prefer
96a nice sit-in on the gras in the sun).
97
98As this is a non-profit event organised by non-profit organisation, the
99CCC will not be able to compensate travel costs let alone a speaker
100honorarium. Well, maybe travel costs in a few cases. The event is
101outdoor, that means you will need to bring a tent or camping car for
102accomodation.
103
104The preliminary agenda will be published on the web in the near future.
105Registration information will be posted, too.
106
107Attractive timeslots in the agenda might get filled up before 1. July,
108so please dont wait too long with your submission.
